Abstract

Penyakit degeneratif telah menjadi ancaman serius bagi kesehatan masyarakat di berbagai belahan dunia, termasuk di desa-desa. Penyakit degeratif seperti diabetes melitus (DM) dan hipertensi telah menjadi penyebab utama kematian dan kecacatan di banyak negara termasuk Indonesia. Pemberdayaan masyarakat di tingkat desa memainkan peran kunci dalam upaya pencegahan dan penanggulangan penyakit ini. Salah satunya di Desa Wawondengi yang ada di Kecamatan Moramo, Konawe Selatan, Sulawesi Tenggara. Upaya pencegahan dan penanggulangan penyakit degeneratif yang dapat dilakukan pada kegiatan pengabdian ini, meliputi pembuatan media edukasi tentang penyakit DM dan hipetensi, serta pengobatannya; melakukan edukasi, serta melakukan pendampingan keterampilan perawatan kaki, senam kaki, dan latihan peregangan bagi para penderita penyakit tersebut. Tingkat pemahaman masyarakat terhadap hasil pengabdian diukur menggunakan pretest dan post test. Hasil dari program penyuluhan dan pendampingan yang berkelanjutan ini menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan dan perilaku masyarakat terkait pencegahan serta penanganan hipertensi dan DM. Pengabdian masyarakat ini diharapkan mampu meningkatkan kesadaran serta keterampilan masyarakat desa Wawondengi dalam penanggulanan dan penanganan penyakit hipertensi dan DM.
